SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Second-seed and 10th ranked Pacific scored the first three goals of the game and five of the first six on their way to an 11-7 win over 13th-ranked San Diego State in the 2017 Golden Coast Conference Women's Championships title game on Sunday afternoon.

With the win, the Tigers (20-8) claim their first conference tournament crown and avenge last year's one-goal overtime setback in the title game at San Diego State a year ago. The Tigers earn the GCC automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Water Polo Championships in two weeks.

Five different Tigers scored as Pacific jumped on the Aztecs (18-14) 5-1 after the first quarter. For the game, seven different Pacific players scored with Karolina Hlavata (JR/Strakonics, Czech Rep.) leading the team with three goals. Here back-to-back goals in the second quarter pushed the Tiger lead to 7-2 with 6:22 to play in the first half.

The Aztecs cut the lead to 7-3 on a Ioli Benekou (SR/Marousi, Greece) five-meter penalty goal with 4:42 to play. The Tigers then delivered a big blow to the Aztec comeback ideas with Viktoria Tamas (FR/Kerepes, Hungary) scoring at the buzzer to give Pacific a commanding 8-3 lead at the break.

From there the Tigers defense took over as the lead never dropped below four goals. Alexis Hollinrake (JR/Redlands, CA) had 13 saves and four steals in the game to pace Pacific on the defensive end.
